Nachete, as we like to call him since we were little kids, studied hospitality in Barcelona for 4 years and later did his internship at the Hotel Hesperia Presidente.
When finished, he worked for a year in the famous restaurant Bitxarracu, until he was presented with the great opportunity of his professional life and could not refuse: to set up his own ice cream parlor with his brothers.
As we explained on the homepage of this website, the name of Gelateria Palau did not come because the ice cream shop is located right in front of the Palau de la Música, but it is one of the family surnames with a great entrepreneurial spirit.
Palau olive oil was once known internationally for their high quality and now the family wants to continue this tradition of providing value to the consumer, only this time with another type of delicacy: Ice-Cream from Italy.
At first, none of the brothers knew exactly how to run an ice cream shop, but with a small initial investment to renovate the rather decrepit local, they launched themselves into the pool.
What follows is a complete photographic report on the evolution of the reform of the store. Enjoy it!
Condition of the store before the renovation:
As you can see in the pictures, the place had potential for its good location and size, but it lacked much work so it could offer a proper appearance that invites to eat ice cream…
Renovation and refurbishment process:
Nacho and Javi spent about a whole month 12 hours a day working in the local to open in mid-July 2015, with the invaluable help of many friends and acquaintances. The idea was to be able to offer ice cream as soon as possible so as not to lose turnover in summer since it is the time when more tourists pass by.
Local already renovated and open to the public:
Finally, after solving all the problems that arose throughout the entire reform, which were a lot, they were able to open the ice cream shop on time, offering a multitude of flavors, either in a pot or a cone. They also added to the repertoire the famous drink called Horchata and Waffles.
Renewal for the 2nd anniversary:
Two years later and after a lot of work and learning, it was time to collect benefits and reinvest them in the store. Javi, together with the team of D.Project Barcelona was in charge of giving a complete wash of face to the ice cream parlor, adapting it to what is expected of a place of these characteristics located in such an important place of the city.
